Weighing 150,000 tons, this is the largest type of ship that can enter Richards Bay, a coal-exporting port on the eastern coast of South Africa.

VLBC Very Large Bulk Carrier

VLBC is a large bulk carrier that can carry 180,000-200,000 tons. A carrier of over 200,000 tons is called an ULBC, or Ultra Large Bulk Carrier.

This is a 60,000-70,000 ton ship that can pass through the Panama Canal

VLCC

VLCC stands for Very Large Crude oil Carrier, and is an
ultra-largeoil tanker. VLCCs weigh 200,000-300,000 tons.

ULCC

ULCC stands for Ultra Large Crude oil Carrier. ULCCs
weigh 300,000 tons or more.
