    - SHI signed an MOU with India’s Swan Defence and Heavy Industries.

    - SHI is expanding its global network, reinforcing the foundation for a sustainable business structure.

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) is accelerating the build-out of its global network, expanding strategic cooperation with an Indian shipyard following partnerships in China and the United States.

SHI announced on the 29th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on shipbuilding and offshore business cooperation with Swan Defence and Heavy Industries, a shipyard located in northwestern India.

Swan operates India’s largest dry dock (662 × 65 m), capable of constructing very large crude carriers (VLCCs) and offshore facilities. Leveraging this capability, SHI plans to explore collaboration in newbuilding engineering, procurement, and production management (EPM), as well as in offshore project development.

Through this partnership, SHI aims to secure a production foothold in India—a country rapidly fostering its shipbuilding industry amid growing seaborne trade volumes—and will gradually expand its business scope.

Building on its advanced EPC capabilities in shipbuilding and offshore engineering, SHI has been broadening its global network by establishing strategic business partnerships with China’s PaxOcean in July last year and the United States’ Vigor Marine Group (VMG) this August, thereby reinforcing the foundation for a sustainable business structure.

“This collaboration which brings together both technological and market strengths, represents the best win-win model for both companies,” said Geum-sung Namgoong, Executive Vice president of SHI. “SHI will continue striving to create future growth opportunities.”

“We are pleased to collaborate with Samsung Heavy Industries, a global industry leader,” said Vipin Kumar Saxena, CEO of Swan Defence. “I look forward to pursuing new business opportunities together in shipbuilding and offshore sectors.”
