    - Three Samsung EPC companies will offer opportunities to showcase innovative technologies and ideas applicable to the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) sector and the enrollment deadline is September 19.

Three Samsung EPC companies─Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), Samsung C&T Engineering and Construction Group, and Samsung E&A─announced on the 11th that they are jointly hosting the `2025 ConTech Contest` to explore innovative EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) technologies.

Based on the `open innovation (open cooperation)`, the three companies jointly hosted the `ConTech Contest` together since 2021 to discover potential technologies and ideas applicable to the EPC and construction fields.

The event aims to provide opportunities for SMEs, mid-sized companies, startups, universities, and industry-academic cooperation foundations with innovative technologies and ideas but lack funding and research infrastructure support.

Now in its fifth year, the `2025 ConTech Contest` is set to foster broad cooperative synergies, including considering joint investments in the development of innovative technologies.

The contest is divided into two categories: business potential and commercialization, and specific technologies. The business potential and commercialization category covers Architecture/Civil Engineering (buildings/housing, infrastructure such as roads/bridges); Plants (industrial/environmental, chemical/power generation); and Shipbuilding/Offshore (LNG carriers, container ships, FPSOs).

The specific technologies category encompasses Digital Transformation (big data, IoT, XR, BIM,  digital twins); Artificial Intelligence (design automation, logistics and material management, construction management, recognition technologies); Smart Manufacturing and Construction (modules, robotics, 3D printing, automation); and Eco-friendly Technologies (carbon capture and utilization, green energy production resource recycling, energy reduction).

Applicants can register via the contest email (pat.shi@samsung.com) from August 11 to September 19, with further details available on the Samsung Heavy Industries` official website.

The final results will be announced on November 28, following the document screening (first round) and presentation evaluation (second round). The selected team will receive benefits such as technology verification, joint development, and commercialization support.

“We hope that the contest will serve as a catalyst for cooperation among companies, organizations, and groups with innovative EPC technologies and ideas,” said the 2025 ConTech Contest spokesperson. “Technologies that are finally chosen in the contest will be widely reviewed and utilized across many business areas of the three Samsung EPC companies.”
